Francisco Lindor Expected Back in Mets Lineup Soon
Mets Recall Outfielder From Triple-A Amid Lindor Injury Woes
The New York Mets have recalled veteran outfielder Brandon Nimmo from Triple-A Syracuse to bolster their lineup amid the continued absence of All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor due to a sprained MCL.
Nimmo, 29, was hitting .305 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 21 games for the Mets' top minor league affiliate. He is expected to start in center field and bat leadoff on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs.
Lindor, who suffered the injury while making a diving stop in the field on May 30, is expected to miss at least another week.
Nimmo's recall gives the Mets a much-needed boost in the outfield. The team has been struggling offensively in recent weeks, averaging just 3.4 runs per game over their last 14 contests.
Nimmo is a career .274 hitter with 46 home runs and 172 RBIs in seven seasons with the Mets. He is known for his speed and defensive versatility, having played all three outfield positions.
