Oakland As Make History With Walk Off Grand Slam To Topple Astros 7 4

Oakland A's make history with walk-off grand slam to topple Astros, 7-4

A's rally in ninth inning to shock Astros with grand slam

The Oakland Athletics pulled off a stunning comeback victory on Tuesday night, defeating the Houston Astros 7-4 in walk-off fashion, thanks to a grand slam by catcher Sean Murphy in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The A's entered the ninth inning trailing 4-2 but managed to load the bases with one out. After Astros reliever Rafael Montero walked pinch-hitter Seth Brown to force in a run, Murphy stepped up to the plate and crushed a 1-2 sinker over the left field wall for the game-winning hit.

The victory marked the first time the A's have hit a walk-off grand slam since Mark Ellis did it against the Texas Rangers on May 24, 2010.

A's rally from behind to earn victory

The A's trailed 4-2 entering the ninth inning but managed to rally for the come-from-behind victory.

After Brown drew a walk to force in a run, Murphy delivered the game-winning hit with a grand slam.

Murphy's grand slam was his second of the season

Murphy's grand slam was his second of the season, as he also hit one against the Los Angeles Angels on June 15.

The 28-year-old catcher is now batting .270 with 18 home runs and 55 RBIs this season.

Astros lose third straight game

The loss was the third straight for the Astros, who have now fallen to 65-54 this season.

Houston is now 2.5 games behind the AL West-leading Los Angeles Angels.
