China Benefits from Black Sea Grain Deal Despite Russia's Exit

Turkey and China Pressured to Intervene

Despite Russia's abrupt withdrawal from the Black Sea grain deal, China has emerged as a major beneficiary, with Western allies now seeking its assistance in mitigating the fallout. Turkey and China, major importers of Ukrainian grain, are being urged to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to reverse his decision.

Russia's Actions Imperil Global Food Security

Russia's initial blockade of Ukraine's Black Sea ports and subsequent attacks on Ukrainian grain storage facilities have severely disrupted global food supplies. The grain deal, brokered by Turkey and the United Nations, had provided a lifeline for countries heavily dependent on Ukrainian grain, particularly those in Africa and the Middle East.

With Russia's exit from the agreement, the flow of grain is once again threatened, raising concerns about a global food crisis. Nations most vulnerable to the impact include Egypt, Yemen, and Bangladesh, which rely heavily on Ukrainian wheat.
