Clippers rally for 126-115 win over Timberwolves
George scores 32, Clippers outshoot Minnesota
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Karl-Anthony Towns scored 24 points, Anthony Edwards added 23 and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ five-game winning streak ended with a 126-115 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.
Paul George had 32 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists for his second triple-double of the season, and Kawhi Leonard added 19 points for the Clippers. Los Angeles shot 52.8% from the field, compared to 42.2% for Minnesota.
The Clippers took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Timberwolves 39-27. George scored 11 points in the period, and Leonard had 10.
Towns hit a 3-pointer to give Minnesota a 90-89 lead with 3:48 left in the third, but George answered with a jumper and the Clippers never trailed again.
Los Angeles led by 10 points entering the fourth quarter and extended the lead to 14 on a 3-pointer by Reggie Jackson with 8:27 remaining. The Timberwolves got within seven points with 2:41 left, but George made a jumper and Nicolas Batum hit a 3-pointer to seal the win.
D’Angelo Russell scored 18 points for the Timberwolves, and Jaden McDaniels added 14.
The Clippers have won two straight and are now 21-20 on the season. The Timberwolves are 23-20.
