Manchester City Thrash Real Madrid 4-1 in Pre-Season Friendly
Citizens Dominate Los Angeles Clash
Goals from Otamendi, Sterling, Stones, and Diaz Seal Emphatic Victory
Manchester City produced a stunning performance to demolish Real Madrid 4-1 in their International Champions Cup clash in Los Angeles. Nicolas Otamendi, Raheem Sterling, John Stones, and Brahim Diaz all found the net for Pep Guardiola's side, while Madrid's consolation goal came from an own goal by Nicolas Otamendi.
City displayed their attacking prowess from the outset, with Sterling's pace and dribbling causing problems for the Madrid defense. The opener came in the 10th minute after a well-worked corner found Otamendi unmarked in the box, and the Argentine defender headed home powerfully.
Madrid struggled to create clear-cut chances and were punished further in the 21st minute when Sterling doubled City's lead. The English winger received the ball from Kevin De Bruyne and cut inside before firing a low drive into the bottom corner.
City continued to dominate after the break, and Stones extended their advantage in the 51st minute with a stunning free-kick from 25 yards out. Substitute Diaz then added a fourth goal for the Citizens in stoppage time, tapping home from close range after being set up by Phil Foden.
Madrid salvaged a consolation goal in the 90th minute when Eden Hazard's cross was inadvertently turned into his own net by Otamendi. However, it was a mere consolation as Manchester City secured an emphatic pre-season victory.
