Dortmund Reach Champions League Semi-Finals with Thrilling Comeback Victory
Borussia Dortmund 4-2 Atlético Madrid (5-4 on aggregate)
What a Game!
In a thrilling Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Westfalenstadion, Borussia Dortmund produced a stunning second-half comeback to defeat Atlético Madrid 4-2 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate, securing their first semi-final appearance in 11 years.
Atlético, who had won the first leg 2-1 in Madrid, took an early lead through Álvaro Morata but Dortmund fought back with goals from Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen before the break.
In the second half, Atlético looked to have regained control when Thomas Lemar restored their lead, but Dortmund refused to be beaten. Jude Bellingham equalized with a stunning long-range effort, before Marius Wolf and Marcel Sabitzer scored late on to complete the turnaround.
Dortmund will now face either Manchester City or Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, while Atlético's hopes of reaching their first Champions League final since 2016 are over.
